I got my eyes checked today. The computer test of my eyes says that they're pretty much the same as before, about 75° on both eyes. The letter on the wall reading test says my eyes are about 175° on my left with astigmatism, and 200° on my right. So the doctor gave me contacts of 125° for both eyes.
So my mom was horrified as I learned how to put them on. The assistant that was teaching me kept laughing at me. SHUTUP I KNOW I HAVE SMALL EYES. She kept saying, "you need to open your eyes bigger, bigger, bigger, now move your eyelashes out of the way, open eyes bigger" So yes, it is hard putting soft contacts into small eyes. Plus she kept laughing at me cause I kept poking my eye with my finger instead of with the contact. Its actually kinda fun poking my eye, it feels funny. Oh, and every now and then, she would tell me my contacts were dry, I would ask how do you tell, she told me I should be able to feel that they are dry. They feel the same to me. She thought I was weird. During all those times I kept putting on, and removing my contacts, one time, one of my eyelashes fell off, and got caught under my contact. That hurt.
During my eye exam, my mom kept asking the doctor, "are you sure his eyes arn't too small?" He said they're not abnormally small, they only seem small because I have single eyelids. Plus, there are advantages to small eyes. They don't dry as easily and less stuff flies into it. Doctor is cool.
Now what life is like with contacts...
-Our house's carpet is ugly. Before I wouldn't notice because it would just appear as a big blob of beige.
-My room is very dirty. I can actually see all the doghair and dust everywhere now from far far away. Before I had to be within arms length to see dust and doghair.
-I can't read my computer screen from where my chair is with contacts on. It's actually less clear. However, I can read my computer screen from my bed. Not too sure if thats a good thing, but not being able to read my computer screen from my chair is definitely a bad thing.
-I can't rub my eyes when I'm tired.
-Everything looks ugly because suddenly, everything is sharp and dirty looking.
Don't really need to wear contacts or glasses around the house, don't really need them anywhere unless I'm driving or trying to read very small font from very far away.
