new tires and wheels

|

My dad insisted that I get new tires, since mine was losing traction and about 3/4 dead. Sure it could have lasted at least until winter, but he insisted.

So I got a new set of wheels, which came practically new with tires. I get rid of my steelies, I get new tires, it cost a little more than how much new tires would cost without the wheels, and I don't have to pay for it, win-win I guess.

They were shipped in two boxes, but grouped as one shipment. UPS delivered box #2 on time (Monday), then realized box #1 was still in the warehouse, so the next day (Tuesday/today) they dropped off the other box. Right when they got here, I switched them on, and everything else is still going as planned.

Sure, I'm still on crappy stock tires, but they'll do for the next two years or so. Then I should have enough saved up for performance tires.

I like how they look, even if they're still OEM wheels.

Crappy cellphone camera cause that's all I got.

my side project

While I waited for the matte frames to get in for my other decorating project*, I found some IKEA frames that the previous tenants left around.

So I printed out some stuff for the frames, while testing my printer colors. All of them are slightly off-colored cause I was trying to calibrate the colors on my printer while I was at it; but you can't tell anyways, it's artwork, not photographs.

It's currently Metroid themed. :D

Course, none of them are perfectly aligned cause IKEA didn't make the frames exactly identical and I'm not very good at nailing stuff in a straight line.

Thankfully my other project uses foam adhesive pads, not nails.

I ordered some Black matte frames to match the ones I already had. You really can find anything on the internet. Then I'm going to find somewhere to print out the pictures below and put them into the frames.

Let me know if you have higher quality versions of the following pictures.

tire go boom!

|

Right when I was about to go on the freeway to meet up with Connie and Clarice at Rose Hills, Mom called and said she got a flat and needed me to get my dad and come change on the spare. Then she got a ride from a coworker and went back to work and left the car there.

Apparently it exploded on the freeway. When we got there, it looked like this.

It was caused by a cut in the tire from when my dad ran over some metal blind supports in the garage from when we were moving out. Which means that any day now the front tire on the passenger side might explode too.

The cool part was that we could follow the trail of tire pieces cause there was enough of it everywhere.

So, after we changed on the spare, I spent the rest of the day following the car around, in case anything else went wrong. We went to Costco of Industry to get it replaced, cause we bought it from there. They wouldn't let us because Mom's the Costco member. Then we found out they didn't have that tire in stock. So then we filled up on gas, and added some air to the spare, and gave the car back to Mom so she could take it to Costco of Azusa to get the tire replaced.

Happy ending; tire got replaced under warranty, wheel was completely undamaged, and no on got hurt.

monterey park

I realized that I haven't updated lately. Sorry, I've been busy.

So I've moved back to Monterey Park. I still know my way around here pretty well, I just hate driving here. Bad narrow roads, lots of dips, hills, bumps, and not enough parking spots. Oh, and I live on a big big hill. Annoying to climb, but I can reach the bottom without starting my engine, in theory anyways--I'll need to try it one day.

As of right now, I'm pretty much completely unpacked, with most of the stuff where it should be. Room took a lot of rearranging before I decided on how it's arranged now.

Here's some pictures for those who haven't been here yet. :D

Hardwood floors here. Hate hardwood floors.

Where I sleep. Yeah, it normally looks kinda like that.

The little corner I where I can hide all my crap. Next to my bed.
Other side of the bed--desk and pictures. Mom wants my bottom two frames, so they'll be somewhere else.

My desks. Yes, two of them. One for me to throw my crap on, and the other to do work on.

Behind my other desk. Pocket Monsters poster is only temporary until I think of something else to cover that wall with. And there's my futon-couch-bed thing, for me to sleep when I'm too lazy to crawl across the room, clean off my bed, then sleep.

Another bookshelf for me to put stuff on. I don't even have that much stuff.
I have a mirror! A beat up mirror that no one wanted. Now I don't have to walk to the bathroom to look at myself :D

Best part about all this is that I won't be spending much time here. But feel free to visit whenever I'm around. I really don't have anything better to do other than clean, and clean, and clean. Did I mention I hate hardwood floors?

my desk

|

I try to keep my desk at school clear of junk and filled with academic related stuff (ie. books). That way, I occasionally get some work done.

Mom wanted me to clean out my desk at home, and bring all my stuff to school. My desk at home really only had my speakers and stereo on it, and it was bigger, and it pretty much took up most of the desk.

Now my speakers are with me at school... and they pretty much took over my desk. All my books and notebooks that were normally there got a new home under my bed.

I think I need to find a new place to study now...

summer school. session b

Sucks.

It makes me wonder, who voluntarily pays for more school during break, oh right, I did. I'm kind of hating that decision now. Instead of doing painfully boring work, I could've been exercising and doing work and earning money and having fun.

But instead I'm here cause classes are cheaper during summer, especially if you take significantly more than recommended, and I have to pay for house rent anyways.

I would rather pay for rent, and just go to the gym and do research, nothing else. $10/hour, at least 20 hours a week, I could do all sorts of fun stuff with that money.

But if I take summer school, I could graduate early or spend the last few years of college working for somewhere with higher pay..

I even miss having crappy pay. Research was actually not that bad, since half the time I'm not doing anything anyways, and I get paid! Sometime this week I'm going to try to draft up a schedule and see if I can work again.. Hopefully it works out. I don't care about my classes that much to dedicate all my free time to studying for them, especially since they're rather boring.

*sigh*

6 more weeks....
